Kailash Hotel
Welcome to Kailash Hotel
Nestled in the vibrant Mission District of San Francisco, Kailash Hotel offers a modest yet genuine lodging experience. Situated at 179 Julian Ave, this hotel serves as a gateway to one of the city’s most culturally rich and historically significant neighborhoods, known for its colorful street murals, authentic Latino heritage, and an abundance of trendy restaurants and lively bars.
The hotel's 3.1-star rating reflects its no-frills approach to accommodation. Guests can expect clean rooms with basic amenities and a bed that provides adequate rest. While daily housekeeping is not standard, fresh linens are available upon request, which caters well to those who prefer minimal interruption. Bathrooms and showers are shared on each floor, maintained with consistent daily cleaning, ensuring hygiene without the luxury of private facilities.
Affordability remains one of Kailash Hotel’s greatest strengths. The price point appeals especially to budget-conscious travelers who prioritize location and community vibe over upscale comforts. Though cable services can be unreliable and not all rooms feature smart TVs, the friendly and accommodating staff mitigate these minor drawbacks with their warmth and attentiveness. Noticeably, Andy, the manager, enriches the stay with his approachable demeanor and genuine helpfulness, cultivating an inviting atmosphere that feels like more than just a transient lodging.
Staying here means immersing oneself in a dynamic and authentic urban enclave. The proximity to 16th & Mission Streets and Valencia Street places guests within easy reach of supermarkets, coffee shops, and public transit, promoting exploration and spontaneity. Visitors are encouraged to embrace the local culture, soaking in the artistic expression and culinary delights that define this part of San Francisco.
Ultimately, Kailash Hotel might not promise luxury, but it delivers something equally valuable: a real, grounded experience marked by sincerity and community spirit. This is a place where travelers can rest affordably, connect with the essence of the Mission District, and enjoy the company of staff who genuinely care, making each stay quietly memorable.

The room is clean and bed is okay, they don't have daily cleaning service but you can ask for clean linens. Common toilet and shower for every floor. Keep your own garbage in a plastic bag and bring it to the garbage room. This place is nearby 16th & Mission Streets & a block from Valencia Street for easy access on restaurants, coffee shops, supermarkets & transportation. Staff are very nice, friendly and helpful.
This is a very basic no frills room situation, shared bathrooms that are cleaned daily and two per floor so one is usually always open. You can't beat the price point, the only downside is that the cable never works and not all rooms are equipped with a smart TV to sign into Netflix and stuff on. But the workers are friendly and accommodating
I'm a long term renter. Andy, the manager, possibly owner is super kind and helpful, will continuously provide exceptional service and is good company to chat with even, he's a witty lil thing, he is. Appropriate adorable prices. And great atmosphere. Also considerably located in one of the most rich and authentic culture and historical districts in the city along with being highly sought after by tourists and I can why. ????. Solid 10/10
